Pico Genesis for skin lightening and pigmentation

(From £500)

Pico Genesis™ is the most advanced laser treatment for gentle, effective and quick improvements in unwanted freckles, sun and age spots and uneven skin tones. Revere Clinics are proud to be the first clinic in the UK embracing Pico Genesis with enlighten™ picosecond laser technology.

Pico Genesis™ works by targeting the excess melanin in your skin. Melanin is the pigment that gives our skin colour, but when it occurs in high concentrations it can result in dark spots and uneven skin tone.

During the Pico Genesis™ procedure, the laser light is absorbed by the melanin, causing it to break down into tiny particles which are then sloughed off or absorbed into the body – leaving your skin lighter, brighter and more even.

Most skin toning procedures use a Q Switch laser, which treats the skin with a combination of light and heat. However, while this is effective for treating some pigmentations, it can make others worse – and in some cases the heat from Q Switch lasers can transfer to surrounding skin structures, damaging the tissue.

Pico Genesis™ uses the latest generation of non-thermal, photo-mechanical picosecond laser. Pico Genesis™ uses sound, not heat, to break down melanin while protecting the surrounding tissue. Pico Genesis™ has the added bonus of promoting smoother, brighter skin in just 24 hours, as well as addressing pigmentation. The full results of your treatment will be visible in just three weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What areas can be treated?

Pico Genesis™ can be used to improve the appearance of the face, hands and other areas of the body with noticeable signs of sun damage and pigmentation. The treatment is effective on virtually all skin types and tones.

  • How many treatment sessions are required?

A series of two to three Pico Genesis™ treatments are recommended to achieve the best outcome. To sustain results over time, a series of ongoing maintenance treatments are encouraged. Your practitioner will discuss the likely outcome of your treatment at your complimentary, in-depth consultation.

  • What can I expect during my treatment?

During the procedure, you will feel the tip of the laser device touch your skin. Patients often compare the procedure to a rubber band being snapped against their skin. Although most do not find the treatment uncomfortable, a topical anaesthetic can also be applied to ensure your comfort.

  • Is it safe?

The procedure is non-ablative, meaning no layer of skin is removed. Unlike treatments that use Q Switch lasers, Pico Genesis™ uses non-thermal enlighten™ picosecond lasers which protect the surrounding tissue.

  • What are the side-effects?

Most patients experience mild redness and swelling immediately following the treatment. These side effects are temporary and typically resolve in several hours. An ice pack may be applied immediately after the treatment to ease any discomfort. You should then keep the treated area out of the sun and apply a high factor sunscreen for extra protection.

In a few days, the pigment will appear darker. This is also temporary and is a sign the treatment is working. The darker spots will appear to flake off over a few days.

  • Is there any downtime?

Although patients may experience mild redness and swelling for a few hours, they can return to regular activities immediately following the treatment.
